In 1843, Louisa ‘Caroline’ Held was born in Penkuhl, West Prussia, ruled by Germany until after WWII and is now part of Poland.
She married August Friedrich Wilhelm Kath and together; they had 7 strong sons.
The family immigrated to Quebec in 1893.
Soon after landing, they continued their long travel down the St. Lawrence River, eventually settling in Faribault, MN.
She passed away at the age of 84.
This quilt is dedicated to her incredible life.
